Sebi Panel for Improving Governance Standards for Market Infrastructure Agencies

The Securities and Exchange Board of India on Monday set up an ad hoc committee chaired by former full-time member J Mahalingam to review and make recommendations for further strengthening of governance standards in Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs).

The committee is tasked with making recommendations regarding the role that the board and committees play in health insurance organizations. The committee will also review requirements related to the appointment and operation of the board of directors and key management personnel of international insurance organizations, promote transparency, and review policy regarding the preservation and sharing of information held by health insurance organizations.

Other committee members include corporate governance expert JN ​​Gupta, Aarti Nihalani, Partner at Oliver Wyman, former BSE Brokers Chairman Uttam Bagri, Sandip Bhagat, Partner at S&R Associates, and the Managing Directors and CEOs of NSE, BSE, NSDL and CDSL .
