Emirates will equip a large part of its existing fleet with Premium Economy. The conversion of 52 Airbus A380s and 53 Boeing 777s will start at the end of 2022. A year and a half later, that project should be completed, Emirates announced in November 2021 during the Dubai Air Show.
Emirates already has a handful of A380s equipped with this class directly from the factory. These aircraft will be deployed this fall to Sydney, Frankfurt, Paris, London and New York.
Emirates CEO Tim Clark previously spoke about installing Premium Economy in 112 Boeing 777s, but that turns out to be a bit too optimistic: with 53 copies, almost half of the Triple Seven fleet will receive this product on board.
New Business Class in Boeing 777
The airline also announced in November 2021 that it is considering installing a new Business Class product on its 777s. Now the seats are still there in a 2-3-2 arrangement, but that should then become 1-2-1 so that all passengers have direct access to the aisle.
