Last weekend, ground staff gave up their work due to dissatisfaction with the workload. As a result, dozens of flights were canceled because luggage was not brought on board aircraft. Employees also feared for their jobs because KLM said it wanted to work with an external handling agent.
In the meantime, KLM’s management has already held talks with personnel representatives within the company about issues such as work pressure and rosters. Talks with unions are also planned.
The problems at Schiphol are also partly caused by runway maintenance. Together with an unfavorable wind direction, this causes disruptions in flight schedules.
