Eric Strand, CEO of AuAg Funds, spoke with Proactive to discuss how promoting sustainability in the gold mining industry could have a powerful impact.
AuAg ESG Gold Mining UCITS ETF Acc Portfolio Manager Eric Strand meets with Proactive London to explain how ETFs work for investors and how they promote positive change in the sector.
As he explains, the world needs many different minerals in order to go green, but while mining isn’t always the most sustainable sector, the fund tracks an index that excludes all but 25 of the 25 most sustainable mining companies.
Strand notes that in order to promote sustainability changes in sectors known as pollutants such as transportation or mining, changes have taken place ‘Much greater net impact on the green world’ from other sectors.
He also talks through the biggest sustainability issues in the industry, what makes a mining product ESG-friendly and what is scrutinized so that the index can only include the best of the best
“When we encourage sustainability changes in sectors with pollutants such as transportation or mining, the changes … have much larger net impacts on a green world.”
