The Dutch government has indicated that it wants to buy shares in order to maintain its interest of more than 9 percent in the group. According to the Ministers of Finance Sigrid Kaag and Mark Harbers of Infrastructure, the participation will cost about 220 million euros. The House of Representatives still has to approve the purchase. The French government, the largest shareholder of Air France-KLM, is also going to buy shares.
The AEX index on Beursplein 5 was 1.5 percent lower in morning trade at 683 points. The MidKap fell 0.9 percent to 1013 points. The stock exchanges in Frankfurt, Paris and London lost up to 1.5 percent.
