Schiphol: New rules on take-off and landing rights help to reduce crowds

The new rules have been drawn up by Schiphol in consultation with the independent slot coordinator and discussed with airlines.

Schiphol expects that airlines will return some of their slots sooner with the amended rules. This leads to fewer flights and makes better planning possible, according to the airport.

Four action lines
The amended slot rules are part of a package of measures taken by Schiphol. The measures that Schiphol is working on can be divided into four action lines:

  1. Attract employees
  2. Attractive working at Schiphol
  3. Optimizing operation, including extra crowd control and extra staff deployment
  4. Create malleable operations, including improved scheduling coordination with airlines, rescheduling flights to regional airports, and modified slot rules.
