The number of rebooked passengers continues to rise, offering almost all passengers an alternative. This is what the airline reports on Sunday evening
KLM expects to be able to carry out its own operation according to schedule before Whit Monday, just like on Sunday.
KLM emphasizes that it was a very difficult choice not to fly passengers to or via Amsterdam on Saturday evening and that this measure was not taken lightly.
“Unforeseen and acute circumstances beyond our control made it necessary to intervene; due to an unfavorable wind direction in combination with runway maintenance at Schiphol, the capacity was erected by air traffic control in Amsterdam on Saturday from air traffic restriction on passengers at Schiphol, resulting in an increase long queues,” said KLM.
In order to guarantee safety at Schiphol and to keep the situation at the airport manageable, KLM stated that it was no longer able to take passengers to Schiphol on Saturday evening in a responsible manner.
